Commissioned by King Mohammed VI and opened in 2010, Royal Mansour is arguably the most extraordinary new hotel built anywhere in the world in the 21st century — a private medina of 53 riads, each on three or four floors, connected by underground tunnels through which silent butlers move unseen. Every riad is a masterwork of Moroccan craftwork executed by royal artisans over five years: zellij mosaics, carved cedar ceilings, silk hangings and plaster filigree of impossible delicacy.
